There are a lot of Hollywood heavyweights behind Obama, but I doubt anybody will make as much noise as Jackson does here, particularly if this spreads virally the way his last bedtime story did. Maybe Romney better get Clint Eastwood on the phone for a counter:

The first trailer for Universal's comedy Identity Thief appeared today. It stars Jason Bateman as a successful guy and Melissa McCarthy as the con artist that ruins his life. It is directed by Bateman's Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon. The studio had set a May 2013 release date for the pic but recently moved it to February 8, 2013.

Hot Trailer: 'Promised Land'
Promised Land reteams Gus Van Sant and his Good Will Hunting star Matt Damon in a story about a natural gas conglomerate that descends on a small farming town. Damon and Frances McDormand are the company's point people who run into plenty of problems once they arrive. John Krasinski, Rosemarie DeWitt and Hal Holbrook co-star. Damon and Krasinski co-wrote the script based on a Dave Eggers story. Focus Features is releasing this one in an Oscar-qualifying run December 28 before expanding in January.

Hot Trailer: 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey'
The latest tease for Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey dropped this morning. The merry dwarves are back along with menacing monsters and fresh footage since the first trailer from last December. This one also has extra Gollum. This will be the first picture in what recently became a trilogy of Hobbit movies. In July, it was confirmed that Jackson would split what was a planned two-picture story into three films from JRR Tolkien's book and 125 pages of appendices that the author included in a later publication of final Lord Of The Rings installment, The Return Of The King. Set in Middle-earth, 60 years before LOTR, The Hobbit trilogy kicks off with n Unexpected Journey on December 14 this year, followed by The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug on Dec. 13, 2013 and The Hobbit: There And Back Again on July 18, 2014.

Director Feng Xiaogang's Back To 1942 explores a devastating drought and famine in Hunan Province that occurred at the same time Japanese forces were invading China. Here is an exclusive clip for The Time Being, an acquisition title that premieres here at Toronto tomorrow at 4:30 at the Winter Garden. The film stars Frank Langella and Wes Bentley and is directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain. That newcomer wrote the script with Richard Gladstein.
