An international trailer has surfaced for Disney/Pixar's prequel Monsters University, which opens June 21. (This played before Wreck-It Ralph over the weekend in the UK; the domestic trailer is going out with Disney's Oz The Great And Powerful when that pic premieres March 8.) The new full-length trailer fleshes out the plot that finds Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) in their college years ' something the teaser released back in June with Brave accomplished pretty much spot-on in one scene. Hot Berlin Trailer*: 'Big Ass Spider'

I put an asterisk in the title there because I can't promise this will be a massive breakout from the market stalls of the European Film Market. But I will say that the story of a giant arachnid (à la Ray Harryhausen) terrorizing Los Angeles, and sold here by Epic Pictures, looks fun and also somewhat reminiscent of Iron Sky, a movie that kicked off its career here last year and went on to have a cult life. Big Ass Spider does not have Nazis on the moon as did Iron Sky, but it was just selected for SXSW's Midnighters section where it will have its world premiere and features such actors as Ray Wise and Greg Grunberg ' and there's even a cameo by Troma chieftan Lloyd Kaufman. As needed, I'll report back during the week on the spider's international bite. The trailer is below (with a short intro from director Mike Mendez):

Hot International Trailer: 'Byzantium'

An international trailer has surfaced for Neil Jordan's vampire movie Byzantium. The trailer boasts of Jordan's connection to Interview With A Vampire, but Jordan's 1984 scary lycanthrope fairy tale The Company of Wolves (with Angela Lansbury!) or even his work on Showtime's The Borgias would be more of a lure than the director's 1994 misadventure with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. IFC Films picked up U.S. theatrical rights last year at Toronto but hasn't set a release date. This potentially intriguing story about a pair of vampires on the run stars Gemma Arterton, Caleb Landry Jones, Daniel Mays, Jonny Lee Miller, Sam Riley and Saoirse Ronan.

Super Bowl Sneak: 'World War Z'

Here's the new ad for Paramount's Brad Pitt-starrer World War Z, which the studio will show during CBS' pregame show ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl. It's not the first look we've had at the zombie pic, but its placement means it will probably be the one most people will see ahead of its June 21 wide release.
